The selected projects for this third edition of VENTURA are: Alevosía by Sara Casasnovas, produced by José David Díaz; As Crechas, directed and produced by Inés Pintor; Da túa man para a miña, directed by Fran Rodríguez and Coral Piñeiro and produced by Fran Rodríguez and Andrea Vázquez; Handen, directed by Ángel Filgueira and produced by Silvia Fuentes; Mariñeiros: cartas sobre a beleza, directed and produced by Guillermo Carrera Pérez-Cosio; and finally Vín a noite que nunca remata, directed by Helena Santín and produced by Beli Martínez.
The diversity of proposals, the presence of filmmakers from different generations, a wide range of stylistic approaches, and the convergence of projects at various stages of development highlight the richness and multiplicity of perspectives that define contemporary Galician cinema, which the platform seeks to showcase.
The representatives of these six projects will participate in the three stages that make up VENTURA, focused on professional training, project development, and co-production encounters.
Training Stage to Feature Experts From Berlinale, San Sebastián, and Locarno
This outstanding group of professionals will lead a series of online sessions designed to enrich and provide knowledge in areas such as financing, co-production, distribution, marketing, sustainability, audience design, markets and festivals, digital tools, and other fields of interest for the representatives of the selected projects.
The team includes: Antonia Girardi (Director of FIDOCS and Pop Up Film Residency); Asia Jarzyna (Eco Manager and creator of Willco); Filipa Reis (Producer at Uma Pedra no Sapato); Hayet Benkara (Industry Consultant and Coach); José Manuel Arias (Industry Department of the San Sebastián Film Festival); Laura Nacher (The Match Factory); Maialen Beloki (Deputy Director of the San Sebastián Film Festival); Marion Klotz (Project Manager at Locarno Industry Academy); Nikola Joetze (Project Manager at Berlinale Talents); and Victoria Marotta (Producer at Un Puma).
The following stages will consist of a writing residency under the mentorship of acclaimed Portuguese filmmaker João Pedro Rodrigues, and a series of co-production encounters.
Finally, all participants will present their projects before a prestigious jury that will award a cash prize, along with additional service prizes offered by partners and collaborating companies.
VENTURA aims not only to foster creative talent in Galician audiovisual production but also to provide participants with the tools and skills necessary to develop their projects more competitively, to communicate and defend them effectively, to secure financing, to expand their potential audiences, and to navigate the international landscape of markets, forums, and festivals. In doing so, VENTURA seeks to build and nurture an international community of audiovisual professionals based in Galicia.
