Play-Doc presents VENTURA, a new training and co-production platform for filmmakers and producers from around the world

September 18, 2022

VENTURA will take place in three stages, comprising professional training, project development and co-production meetings. The first edition of VENTURA has now opened its call for entries.

The Cultural Association Enfoques, responsible for organising the Play-Doc International Film Festival, which has been held in the border town of Tui (Galicia) for almost two decades, now launches VENTURA, an initiative dedicated to filmmakers and producers whose work focuses on making independent films with strong artistic visions. This initiative aims to empower unique voices to help find the best possible version of future films.

Conceived as a hybrid workspace that combines face-to-face and virtual activities, VENTURA aims to accompany film projects through all phases. VENTURA aims to generate and nurture an international community of audiovisual industry professionals based in Galicia.

Projects from any country can apply to participate in the programme, regardless of their stage of development, production or post-production, with no restrictions regarding length, format or genre. The deadline for national projects is 28th October 2022, and the deadline for international projects is 20th January 2023. All information as well as the rules of participation and the application form can be found at www.ventura.gal

Training, development and meetings between professionals

VENTURA will offer a programme consisting of professional training with a group of internationally renowned experts, thanks to whom both producers and directors of the participating projects will be able to enrich their knowledge in terms of financing, co-production, distribution, marketing, audience design and other areas of interest. The aim will be to provide their creators with the necessary tools to give visibility to their projects and to equip them with all the skills to understand and make the most of their artistic and commercial potential.

The participants of the selected projects will also be invited to take part in a week-long intensive writing residency led by Marta Andreu, a renowned expert in project mentoring with extensive experience in writing labs and residencies all over the world. This meeting will be held at Finca Remesal, an ideal space for the development of creative work; peaceful, and in full communion with nature.

As a culmination of this mentoring process, all participants will be invited to attend a co-production forum where they will present their respective projects to a prestigious international jury that will award various prizes in services, as well as a cash prize of €10,000.
